“The Tug Restaurant offers excellent seafood, and is located right on the beach with an excellent view of the sunset.”
“Anyway, The Tug is apparently THE place to go in Swakopmund, as many famous artists have painted the tables and the walls. Should be a good last night of our little vacation.”
“After this we walked down to the seafront to the Tug restaurant; like I said the Tug is one the best restaurants in Swakopmund and is in an old Tug, hence the name. The food was awesome. I walked back to the Swakop Lodge with everybody else and said my goodbyes.”
“I have been to this restaurant many times. It is hard to think of a seaside restaurant that is closer to the sea than this one – sometimes the spray splashes the large picture windows overlooking the Atlantic. I usually order the same thing: the “linefish” meaning fresh fish of the day (steenbras, kabeljou). In my experience it has always been fresh and cooked properly and is simply presented with boiled potatoes and vegetables. For non-fish eaters it does meat well and an excellent spaghetti carbonara (popular with children). The restaurant is hard to get into for dinner (booking essential) – it is much easier to go to for lunch, which is also the best time to enjoy the views. The restaurant is well designed and is built around the bridge of an old tug which is used as the bar.”
“Located in a prominent position, this restaurant has been creatively styled based on a tug boat. Very busy restaurant attracting locals and tourists alike and booking almost essential.
Good variety of food on offer and service excellent. No complaints at all.”
“The Tug theme is mainly confined to the bar area, which is part of an old tug. As expected the place was packed and lively, good atmosphere. Nice view over the sea. Service was OK, but a little rushed. Good choice of food, cooked well and enjoyable. Though nothing spectacular, the food was better than expected for a tourist destination. The main focus of the menu is seafood, which came a great change having been touring Namibia and having meat only for a couple of weeks. We enjoyed the food and the atmoshphere, and would definately go back. This is a very popular restaurant, you do need to book.”
